Hey guys , how would you grade this Indian Head? I bought it as a raw coin, what is not suspicious here in Germany. Greetings Alex
I dont know. I saw a king George gold piece in here a few weeks ago that was MS61 with similar damage. I think it could still get a decent AU grade.
I don't really see any circulation wear, and I don't see anything severe enough to call damage. I see quite a few marks, but nothing too severe. I'd call this a 62.
I don't know. I am quiet sure that this coin is a lower mint state grade. I just wanted to know which one
MS61 is a pretty bad grade for an UNC coin and implies that the coin has some “minor issues”. If it’s clearly damaged, then it should grade UNC details instead. Not sure how strict the TPGs are with world coins (King George?) compared to US coins though...
Thank you very much for all the opinions . I think this coin is a classical MS62 and could rather be considered as investment gold. For that reason I didn't send it in . Grading a gold coin has a price of 35 Euro = about 40 dollars and this type of coin is not realy popular.
Actually, from the scratches on the reverse of the coin, it may end up as MS Details. It would be a gamble to send it in if I am being honest.
But that are contact marks form other coins. Low MS grades are not gem condition. Nethertheless even a MS 63 would probably not worth grading, because of the fee is too high
