1997 Lincoln Penny Ear Piece

    I know this is not the Double Ear Variety that most people look for with 1997 pennies, but what exactly is near his ear? Not sure if it is just a stray piece of metal, or something else?

    Looks like a small Die Break/Crack
    Nothing major

    The correct terminology is Doubled ear.. Not double ear

    Here are many examples

    I also noticed that 2002 1 2002 P Lincoln cent doubled ear lobe.jpg P has a dropped ear lobe which I do not see. Not sure about which class it falls under. WDDO-001 Best of Variety.
