The new picture in post #10 definitely looks like some kind of glue or the JB Weld that was suggested and not a vise job. Time to get the scraper out and free up the gunk. If it’s JB Weld then an acetone soak won’t touch it if it’s something else then I’d say soak that sucker then scrape. It’s only worth a nickel anyways so what’s to loose. 100% not a mint error

It doesn't matter how the damage happened.

There are a trillion ways to damage a coin. We do not have to identify the precise cause because it is not our responsibility.

This is 100% not a Mint error.

It is YOU who needs to prove it is an error, NOT the other way around.

The burden of proof is on YOU.

No proof? No error. Period. All the dumb questions and name calling doesn't build a case for you.

Wasn't trying to point out a problem! Just lightening up the mood a bit here. Just reading the word proof makes me think coins now. I'm hungry for 'em :)

I'm a "little bit" sorry to even mention this, because I get crap from my wife when I correct her spelling/grammar, etc., but right out of the chute I sometimes know the end result of a query that quickly turns into an argument (refusing to listen to the more experienced CT members) when the OP cannot spell.

I once PMed a CT member, advising him that his arguments would be taken more seriously if he used better spelling, etc. He replied that he was a veteran with a disability. CRAP. I felt pretty low.
But my bias remains. I just am not as free with my unasked-for advice any longer.

I swear I saw this coin before. Maybe I accidentally put it in a roll and returned it to the bank. My error
