I was pleasantly surprised to be gifted a medieval coin from another collector here on cointalk of Hugues X. I own a few French denars, but not many.

    So it's a welcome addition.

Hi all, really like this design. How about you? Do you find it interesting the Condor replaces the Bald Eagle, representing Liberty? IMG_20191028_145741.jpg IMG_20191028_145841.jpg IMG_20191028_145841.jpg

This is just a quick edited cell phone photo. In hand it looks like a 64-65, who knows, maybe a little better.

1927 Medallic 5 Mark. I believe it is a Goetz piece.

    Some new purchases

    1966 Qatar & Dubai, 50 Dirhems

    IMG_7865.JPG IMG_7862.JPG

    1966 Burundi, 500 Francs
Not an official coin, & not sure of the mintage.
    IMG_7817.JPG IMG_7816.JPG

    1966 Suriname, Gulden
This one puzzles me... Mintage 100,000 "Never officially released to circulation"
But yet practically nonexistent and somewhat pricey.
    Any info would be appreciated.

I think that guilder was released into circulation... I speak Dutch and went through a Dutch catalogue book I have where it mentions that. You can try also to translate this site, which has some more info about Surinamese money, using e.g. google: http://wiki.muntenenpapiergeld.nl/index.php?title=Suriname.

    One Sede Vacante medal:

    Hildesheim, 1761 Sede Vacante medal.jpg
And an Austrian medal cast for a victory against the Ottomans. Leopold I - bronze medal Bronze medal 1686, unsigned, on the taking of Buda. View of the under fire city, in the foreground artillery position. The Imperial Eagle with arrow bundle fights a smoke-spewing dragon. Leopold I - bronze medal Bronze medal 1686..jpg

And then my favorite; another Austrian medal commemorating victories against the Turks. Leopold I - Silver medal 1686, by L. G. Lauffer and G. Hautsch, on the victories of the year in Hungary. City view of Vienna, above it two geniuses with the medallion of the emperor and view of the ten conquered fortresses.

I'm going to have to sign up with NGC, as I'd like to have them graded... I think the last one could be a 65 or higher, but we'll see.

    Thanks for the link @mkvitt
It does mention the 1966 guilder, but does not say anything about it circulating.
The 1962 version of this coin did circulate, and is quite available.
I cant help but wonder if there is a pile of these coins locked up in a vault somewhere or if the mint melted a large number of these coins.
Note sure what the deal is on these??? I'm just happy to own one of the few I have ever seen.

I have a 1962, never noticed that story about the 1966. Now I will keep my eye out for one.

Last one is quite modern, 1928 Mewar AR rupee. 321-150 BC Mauryan 1 k pair (8).jpg 540-570 Kashmir 1 s pair.jpg 1543 Suri S pair.jpg 1928 Mewar 1 r pair.jpg
