Is anyone going to Coinex in London?
My wife (the knitter of the family) and I are headed to the Shetland Islands for Wool Week the last week of September. As a side benefit of the trip, I will see the British Museum for the first time and attend Coinex. I will be there Friday 9/27. It would be fun to put faces to some of the names here.

It might be a bit late to make the reservation, but you can have access to the British Museum coin cabinet and look/handle anything in their collection. There's a form to fill out on their website and email to them. An incredible experience if you can arrange it in time.

And you will enjoy Coinex. I went last year and it's a nice show.

I have a reservation to look at some of their cabinet. I asked to see their cast bronze collection first and Roman scale weights second.
I think that most cast bronze coins have a medal rotation. I have a few and most have the top of the obverse opposite the top of the reverse. Of course it is sometimes hard to tell which way is up.

We'll also be hanging out ;)

Last year Coinex was in an awesome venue overlooking the Thames opposite parliament, that was much larger than usual allowing inclusion of many more smaller dealers who often have (from my perspective) the most interesting stuff such as local detectorist finds. Afraid this year it'll be back in its prior smaller venue on Grosvenor square. Here are the timings:

    Friday 27th September:
    10.00-12.00 Preview (entry £30)
12.00-18.00 free entry, last entrance 17.30
    Saturday 28th September:
10.00-16.00 free entry, last entrance 15.00

The dealer list: (this is a shorter list both than last year but also compared with the usual quarterly London Coin Fairs, but higher end)

Excellent! Be prepared to be amazed.

When I went a few years back, I reviewed mostly Roman Imperatorial trays. I had several million dollars worth of coins at my table, casually picking up and examining Eid Mar's and various stunning rarities that were as plentiful as apples in a grocery store.

    Enjoy!

I went to Coinex last year and had a very good time. In fact I had a very good time in London for about 2 weeks. I overspent very badly having visited many of the shops before the show. I would recommend to anyone that a visit to London just for the museums and shops as well as the the actual show is time and money well spent. I am not going this year but I am going in 2019
The one coin I picked up at the show. Stater of Leukas 470-450 B.C. Corinthian type 8.10 grms 15 mm leukas5.jpg PS I agree with Andrew the venue last year was great
