I usually would automatically assume that this is zinc rot.. and that the coin collapsed in on itself from taking a hit in the weak and rotted area...but in this case...idk..I'm thinking it may be a defective planchet because I dont see much rot going on tbh. Not sure.
Have you ever seen an apple rot from the inside out because a worm ate a little hole through the skin? Chris
Beautiful coins,lol. All zinc planchets are defective as far as I am concerned,there wont be any zinc coins left for my grandkids to look thru because they will have all turned into dust. Why do they even keep making this composition?..I'd rather them be plastic than to see them rotting away and falling apart,it really is embarrassing that we even use these as a form of currency. Aaaaand,rant over.
