I found this interesting as I thought that varnish would harden and make the paper crackle and over time, turn dark. The article doesn't describe how, or what formulation they use to apply the varnish. Maybe someone here with more knowledge of the type of varnish they might use, could enlighten us. https://www.coinworld.com/news/paper-money/central-bank-of-russia-adding-varnish-to-100-ruble-notes
Probably an Acrylic varnish similar to that artists use to protect water color prints. The water based is the Environmental safety approved one, but better wear and longevity from spirit types.
Interesting to hear about the update to the hundred rouble note. Also curious to hear some members make baseless generalizations. When was the last time you or Jeff have been to Russia?
Sorry, don't mistake my regrettable low-hanging fruit habit for actual prejudice, let alone actual knowledge.
Let’s try to keep politics and/or assumptions out of this thread. I came here to see what CT members had to say about the new 100 rouble, not to encounter judgmental comments about Russian people or govt. Again, how long have any of you lived in Russia? @Legomaster1 - please do not quote commentary that violates the rules, because we then have to edit your posts as well. You are correct on the "keep politics out" thing, however.
Eh. I still stand by my [redacted] statement But I will leave it at that so as to follow the rules not to offend anyone.
