While looking through my change I found a 1988 Lincoln penny where Lincoln looks smaller then all of my other pennies. Also, there's a circular indention on the front side of the penny. I broke out the ruler and sure enough the Lincoln on this particular penny is smaller than the other pennies. In the comparison photo it looks smaller to me also. I'm just wondering if there's something different about this penny.

different years, different dies, cant really compare them, plus the '88 is a copper plated zinc cent with some die deterioration happening, nothing out of the ordinary...welcome to CT

odds are, the circular indention is due to the packing sleeve machine. But it's hard to tell when you don't post pictures. I guess your figures we can imagine what the coin looks like hoping we can give you a full assessment of the coin by pull it out of the air?

Do us all a favor. Please crop out the background in the image so we can see more of the coin and less background...thanks!

All three are worth 1 Cent each

Just a suggestion. There is a Error Coins forum here on CoinTalk.. Create future threads there and not the What's it worth forum.
Many minor errors have little or no premium at all.

Once again.. This is just a suggestion. I'm not trying to be bossy.

Welcome to Coin Talk. According to The Red Book, "In 1969. the die were modified to strengthen the design, and Lincoln's head was made slightly smaller". So if the head is slightly smaller it should be the same size as the 1973. During 1982 the head, was again, made smaller.
