It is there, but, its not...or is it? Cool to see regardless if it is a true error or not. I wont event attempt to diagnose it.
Mine has that leaf shaped anomalie on the torch that mimics a 4th leaf.. what is that? Here is a normal 89p obv
It is pressed in,not raised, perfectly placed and not affecting any of the devices it touches,if manually incused then they did a wonderful job.You can also still see the torch lines in the affected area as seen here, thru a potato
It is possible that the impression was caused by a segment of a grease & debris filled die that broke away and was subsequently struck into the surface of the coin. This is just unfounded speculation on my part, but I have seen similar occurrences on Lincoln cents when I was searching a $50 Mint bag from 1980. What causes me to be skeptical about this is that the impression does not appear to affect the actual leaf immediately to its left. I guess the only way you could be sure about it would be to have a few of the coins that were struck immediately before this one. Chris
@paddyman98 @Fred Weinberg @cpm9ball would you guys set something like this aside or just toss it? Finding coins in succession with this one may never happen, altho it is intriguing, would you just write it off as a damaged coin?
