I like this kind of objective analysis and something all customers should get when paying for grading. At least you'd feel better about someone actually looking at the coin. I still have issues with assigning a number for attractive toning. Beauty is always a subjective thing.

It's not really a dead horse when the issue or problem is ongoing. Running away from or ignoring problems doesn't help.

I refused to give a full throated endorsement to CAC. Soon after I refused to do that, Laura confronted me at a Baltimore show and gave me the what for for not being with the program. When I refused to say that CAC got it right 100% of the time, I became their enemy. I have stated that CAC gets it right 90%+ of the time. That was not good enough for them.

If they think that you have some influence in the coin community, you are either 100% with them, or you are a pariah destined to be the object of their scorn.

That 1796 half dollar is incredible. It beats the stuffing out of that dime in every way. Until you have been a type or half dollar collector for a few years, you have no idea how tough that coin is.

I really don't understand people who would "confront" someone else over an opinion on coins. This ain't North Korea. Sounds like they might get a laugh and a "get lost" from me. Adios!

I wish I had his money. Then I could afford some nice coins.

In my opinion she's a nut job and is textbook for Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

    • Grandiosity with expectations of superior treatment from other people
    • Fixation on fantasies of power, success, intelligence, attractiveness, etc.
    • Self-perception of being unique, superior, and associated with high-status people and institutions
    • Need for continual admiration from others
    • Sense of entitlement to special treatment and to obedience from others
    • Exploitation of others to achieve personal gain (Coin Facts, anyone?)
    • Unwillingness to empathize with the feelings, wishes, and needs of other people
    • Intense envy of others, and the belief that others are equally envious of them
    • Constantly demeans, bullies and belittles others

Yeah but Rodney. You seem smarter then throwing that much coin on an over graded (maybe) coin. I've left change in my daughter car on the dash for over a year and never tonned thst much

I'll admit that I'm smarter than a rock but that's as far as I'll go.

This coin is a business strike not a proof coin. Nicely toned proof coins from original proof sets from 1936-1942 are rarely attractive. Most are mottled, dark brown, or a hideous blue or other color haze. In order to market them, most of them need to be dipped. A truly attractive, rainbow toned proof coin from that era is scarce and those coins fetch large premiums when they come up for sale.
