Question. This penny looked almost like there was clear fingernail polish on the obverse. It looks like a super thin coating of something. It looks worn on most of the high devices or whatever they are called but its there. On the reverse, it looks like any other penny. Did the mint ever put any coating or anything on pennies? I always thought polishing was just a way to smooth them real nice like in a mechanic sort of way. You can kind of see it in my pictures but its alot more obvious in person. Im guessing some over zealous person put something on it years ago???
Whoa!!! Sweet! It turned purple, blue or something. It looked like "oil" on the surface but its dry. The color is actually super cool. Someone must have put something on this thing. It changed nothing on the reverse.
I should have asked. I just dumped some on it and let it sit less than a minute. I have to be quick....wife finds me messing with her nail stuff Im dead lol. Ill put it in a glass dish and let er soak.....the penny that is.
Nail polish remover is not pure acetone. You should not be using it but for this coin it's not important.
