Strange Gold / Silver Speckled 1965 Washington Quarter

    I found this quarter in some change and it looks very strange. It has small silver and gold "dots" on the front and back of coin. These do not come off when rubbed or scratched with fingernail. Under a magnifying glass they appear to be embedded into the coin. DSC01657.JPG DSC01658.JPG

    Looks like it was gold plated and that wore off maybe ?

    That is something that was added after the Quarter was minted.

    Is it worth keeping? Or just put it in with the rest of the coins in the coin machine?
