Now I'm trying to figure out whether Mandarin speakers would consider that bill more, or less, unlucky than one with solid 4's. (I turned a small profit on a $20 with six 8's, so I kind of pay attention along those lines.)

I guess this is sort of an 'almost'... it's almost as "binary" (which isn't really a thing) and it's a longshot almost as a radar (if the 9 and 6 were a 6 and 0 it'd be 66000066) but it DOES read upside down (though not the same forwards and backwards AND it's almost worth fifty dollars and one cent...

I have heard that term before but wasn't sure if there was a distinction between a number just being able to be read upside down or if a "true flipper" is a number that reads the same both right-side up AND upside-down...

I found this one a few months ago that is the closest I've come so far

Yes, the Mandarin word for "four" sounds very much like the word for "death". Some buildings in China skip over the fourth floor, like buildings here skip over the 13th.

A "sort of" repeater, flipper, and one away from a binary:meh:

Was looking through a pile of notes I'd saved and saw these.. might be the closest I'll ever come to randomly finding matching serial numbers

Some "almost" notes I posted before, and thought I would also add here.
$100 note almost worth saving (single run, average condition) and an especially disappointing almost radar $1.
