The bag marks are a bit exaggerated in the pictures, but it looks nice to the eye. What do you guys think?
I would pass. It looks very low MS, possibly dipped. The lighting is making it hard to be sure. It's also a very common year. Grading would cost more than the coin's value. I say put it in a case or 2x2.
You can get a certified MS64 on eBay for less than it would probably cost you for shipping & grading. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...tleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=1880+morgan+dollar+ Chris
So, what did you pay for this coin? You have to factor that in, too! Besides, there is no way that this coin will grade MS64. Chris
Just realized your username has 702 in it and confirmed with your link that you're in Vegas. I was born and raised there and went to Valley High School. I don't live there now, though.
Common-year Morgan dollars should at least have a shot at MS65. If not, it really doesn’t make sense to submit them. If she had exceptional toning and would likely receive a star-grade, then maybe it would be worth it. Your coin is nice, but “white” and doesn’t have enough luster to qualify for a gem BU grade. The focal areas (which have a lot of chatter) and the hit next to the Eagle prevent a higher grade. That’s why I wouldn’t consider submitting it.
If you really want to get your coin graded and test your skills, ANACS is sometimes a good cheap option.
