Apollo 11 puck offers

  1. I am pretty sure you can just cancel your order. The US Mint does not employ a FIFO ordering/shipping process.

Same happened to me. Looks like I'll get the other Apollo coins but will have to wait till May for the puck. I am taking the position that the mint wasn't prepared for the popularity of the piece. If I find Mike Meezak hawing them on TV next week, I will change my position dramatically!

Neither of my orders, the one with the pucks or the one with gold and silver dollars, have advanced beyond "Processing". Thinking of calling to cancel both, as I don't see a way to do it online. :( I'll try again once the madness dies down, maybe.

My order number was USM06315... and I added the 5 ounce puck at about 3 seconds after noon!

My order number was quite low, but it obviously didn't matter.

Calling now gets a greeting, an invitation to participate in a survey once your call is complete, and then... a busy signal.

Calling to check order status (automated) works. After you get your status, you can hit * to speak to a representative. "Your estimated wait time is less than 3 minutes." Yay! I waited over ten minutes; nothing.

Wish I could get a do-over on that survey the Web site presented to me yesterday...

The only time I ever got as giddy as I did yesterday was when I got one of the gold dimes. As far as the 5 ounce puck, I got a confirmation for it and a notice that it shipped. I got the silver dollar as well on that order. I signed off and just looked at the website, then I signed back on and bought the gold coin and a confirmation and notice that it shipped. I haven't looked at my VISA account to see if it has really been charged.

Finally got through on the phone this afternoon -- and the CSR said I can't cancel either order, because both of them now have tracking numbers associated to them. Never mind that the Web site still shows them as "PROCESSING", and that I've received no further email. We'll see if I get tracking numbers before they show up. Sure hope my wife's home to sign for them...

They usually show shipped internally a little before it says so online. Did you get some pucks? What are your plans for them?

Yeah, I did, more than one. I'm going to inspect them carefully for quality -- I bought the limit of the Kennedy gold proofs, and every single one of them had haze or marks in the fields -- and if any don't measure up, request the Mint to cover return shipping on them. If there are multiple good ones, I might consider selling one or two of them, but I expect prices to collapse (if they haven't already). There's a big difference between "they're all gone" and "you'll have to wait until April to get one".

Isn’t it funny that Mike has stuff twice the price and people buy it up. You can’t knock him for being a good salesman. For the novice, he’s like buying from Littleton or one of those severe mark ups. Hey if your up at 3am sometimes it’s interesting to watch. He knows his stuff but buy from him? Never

Just checked. In deed back ordered. Not gonna cancel but no chance of 1st strike. It is what it is. I ordered other Apollo’s besides the puck so I don’t wanna deal with them screwing that up. Oh well

I suppose if mine really have shipped, I could submit them for First Strike designation -- but I think First Strike designations are ridiculous, and I'm quite sure it would be throwing good money after bad.

I bought one of each except the gold coins & the 2 coin set. Not really interested in flipping so usually ignore offers like the ones from Monument. Hopefully that’ll give a collector a chance to get the coin!

Welp, I just got the email notification that my first order shipped. Guess that means I got in before the backordering, at least...

With Mike, it doesn’t make much difference if the Mint is sold out or not. Suppose most of his customers don’t know enough about coins to check the Mint site.

So who will be the first to post a photo of their Apollo puck? I am ready to see one in the wild.

What is this two coin Kennedy set people are talking about? I cannot find it on the Mint site. Anyone have a link?

Did a search to find info on the 5 ounce 'puck'.

This thread hasn't been responded to since January.

    Any news or photos?
