Is the right wheat on the reverse different/larger than the left wheat. And can anyone explain the damage behind the date please.
The cent appears elongated left to right compared with north and south, perhaps the angle of the coin-photo, but unless it really has been rolled out, the wheats appear normal to me. Jim
(a) corrosion/gunk (b) we think you are looking too hard and seeing things. If you are using your photo for analysis it clearly has image distortion by the sensor being too close and off to a side. Very common issue. here's a very simplistic article about it https://www.camerastuffreview.com/en/camera-guide/what-is-lens-distortion
I'm new to coin collecting. Can someone with more experience verify if this is an error. Lamination peel? 1956 D wheat penny
You should start your own thread and provide better pictures. Take pictures head on and not at an angle. Welcome
Welcome to the neighborhood, Miranda! Your coin was damaged while in circulation. There are a limited number of ways that a coin can be altered during the minting process, but there are an infinite number of ways that a coin can be damaged while in circulation. Chris
What are u guys coin collectors or farmers because if ur farmers your definitely in the wrong forums lol
It was shoved onto something or something scraped it from left to right you can clearly see the edge being pushed from left to the right especially on the top. And the "fresh" copper makes it seem as though it was "recent". The scraping also occurring on the "O" in ONE and the bottom of the wheat. What or Why? who knows, you'd have to ask the person that did it, or found it from some mechanical "accident" to it. Welcome to CT. also, next time make your own thread as it's easier for us to help that way and not hijack someone else's thread.
