has anyone seen or gotten a magnetic us coin I found a 1965 gold in color dime but it is magnetic , who would fake a dime?
Photos would be helpful. Sounds like it is just a gold-plated novelty piece... or it could be a modern Chinese counterfeit because they can afford to fake almost any coin and still make a profit.
Can you post a picture of the coin in question? People fake U.S. coins all the time but I’m not quite sure exactly what you’re talking about.
I used to wonder the same thing. When you think about it, it makes sense...... If you are counterfeiting hundred dollar bills, they will come under a lot of scrutiny. However if you are counterfeiting one and five dollar bills you stand a far better chance of getting them out and about with less people taking notice.
Assuming it was is a fake, and it was made in 1965, it could have been worth it back in the day. A roll of them would be work about $40 today adjusted for inflation.
