Further update: My regulars: JMBullion continues to be my number one because of high quality, fast shipping, and pretty good prices. Due to my large business with them, my checks are often not even held. They ship very fast and securely. They get most of my business (in terms of $). Provident Metals is my new number 2. Prices are often lower than anywhere else. Thus, they get more of my total orders. Quality is pretty good, but not great. Shipping time is slow. Shipping communication is sometimes non-existent. I use them mostly for lower dollar orders. My maybes: Bold Precious Metals: too small of a company and prices too high. Likely won't use in future. Apmex: too expensive and has still never given me the echeck option for some reason. My never agains: MCM is no longer on my radar. Prices are ludicrous and I regret using amazon gift cards on overpriced bullion from them in the past. On eBay, prices are still bad. Direct from them gets you on mailing lists.
Liberty ships fast as hell, you pay you get tracking number same day. I buy quite a bit from them, they have lots of good ebay deals that would be like paying close to cash or cash but better than other vendors prices. I like paying with credit card with points back and specials you end up netting under cash price and gives me a hedge against something like What happened with Tulving.
This thread sold me to try out JM with that 10oz spot. I saw JM before, but didn't really pay a whole lot of attention because I thought it was for a single bar. Didn't realize it was for 10x 1oz coins. Originally I was just looking at some junk silver due to really liking the size of dimes and quarters. This is my first purchase from either so I'll see how it goes, but I do like that Provident allows you choose what junk silver you want whereas it's a mixed bag with JM. Probably just my OCD wanting a specific amount of each We shall see how this transaction goes as a brand new customer.
Where do you see on Provident that you can choose your 10 oz? All I see is a deal for 10 oz at spot of Prospector rounds. Oh never mind. I see what you are saying. When you buy junk silver from Provident you can choose your denomination, whereas at Jmbullion it's random. I wish you could choose your starter part of silver at spot. That would be great. I have no interest in those prospector rounds, but if it was a nice bar or Sunshine rounds, I might do it. I think you'll really like JMBullion. The items are simply better quality. And once you're an established customer, shipping will be really fast.
I only deal with Liberty Coins. Great customer service, Great coins, Very quick shipping with 100% care on shipping your coin(s).
What do you like about them? Their website seems really clunky to me. The selection seems pretty bad for gold and silver bullion, and the prices are higher than the big dealers. Am I missing something?
My experience has been with provident metals and govmint.com Provident being the least expensive of the two, though a couple years ago (can't remember the year) Govmint sent me 2 PCGS graded MS70 ASE as a gift.
Top quality coins.... Established over 50 years. Excellent care when packaging and shipping your package. Free fast shipping. P N G Members. tracking number to track your package. Competitive pricing with everyone else. I think the website as well as there Ebay website is just fine. Just depends what you're looking for. A + with the BBB
J M Bullion, just purchase another 10 oz. silver tube starter pack for just over spot. They always seem to have good deals.
Give Provident a second chance. Know why? Let me tell you what happened to me last month. I ordered 5 coins and saw a tiny scratch on one of them. I sent them a message to request for an RMA and postage paid label. Minutes later, I saw a second scratch and realized that "I, myself" was he cause! (I won't go into details of why and how). So I wrote them back to retract my request since it was my fault and the scratch originated on my end. I thought that would be the end of that. They wrote me back saying that they appreciate my honesty and said that they would still take the coin back and replace it!!! I was shocked and plesantly surprised. So perhaps try 'em again.
Although I have purchased silver from most of the companies already mentioned lately I have been buying my ASE's from Aydin Coins & Jewelry. Just received an e-mail where they have 5-2018 ASE's for $89.99 with free shipping. I have purchased from them at least 5 times without a bit of trouble.
Yes, I may be able to find it a little cheaper. I just went to Provident, ASE's are 17.38 for 1-19. If I ordered 5 that would be $86.90 plus $5.95 in shipping equals $92.85, which is $18.57 each. Sure if I want to spend a few hours comparing prices, shipping cost I could do better, but when I only buy 5 maybe once a month, it's not a big deal to me. I also know that if I buy over $99.00 I get free shipping and if I have a little extra cash I sometimes go that route.
APMEX mostly, I had customer support problems last year with JM and have not been back to them since.
Out of curiosity, did you have issues with Customer Support or did you just have to talk to Customer Support? I ask because I can see how the former could be an issue. If it's a fault with the company and they give me the runaround, then I stop doing business. However, if the support experience is okay and everything is made whole, I have no issues continuing business with them.
Also got in my JM spot deal rounds in. I like it. Pictures for some reason don't do it justice. Definitely going to have to try and get some family members to buy more for me, but going to try Provident next just to see so I have some sort of comparison.
It was too long ago to remember much, but it was a person problem with JM support. It can happen anywhere.
APMEX: Confidence and trust a big positive, prices could be more competitive. Bullion Exchanges: Nice coins, shipping, and competitive prices. DBS Coins: Competitive prices, no issues with coins or shipping. Have been using Pinehurst Coins almost exclusively for the past year or longer for ASE rolls and slabs, never an issue with the coins, great packaging and shipping as well. Have been going to JM Bullion web site lately for info and research on collectibles. Just checked JM's products based on comments here; like their prices and large selection; nice web site, will give them a shot soon. Lot of useful info in this thread , thanks.
