I have a 1977 dime with multiple errors. 1) without a "'s" mint mark 2) "God" misspelled as "Cod". 3) the head looks larger than any other dimes I have 4) damages to the leafs on reverse side. No clean edges, blurry looking 5) "In God we trust" - the "I" and "W" appear to be off the edge. 6) "Liberty" is so close to the edge the top of the letters almost disappear 7) hair is smooth 8) reverse- torch column is smooth showing no lines Anyone have any thoughts about this dime? Am I seeing it correctly or just studying it to hard? Here it's compared to the 2013 dime because it's all I had to compare and photo when I started this message.
Well let me say welcome to Cointalk Based on your pics all I can see is a MAD ( misaligned die) also normal worn coin. Your pics are to blurry for me or I'm only on my first cup of coffee but either way it's.JMO Dave
Circulation wear and tear.. No Mint Mark means it was minted at the Philadelphia Mint. Value - 10 Cents
OMG! Another routine circulating 1977 Philadelphia dime without an "S" mint mark? How DO you keep finding these? Yuppirs, there's multiple errors alright, and all of 'em are the OP's.
Still, to someone just getting into coin collecting, that would be a fun find and nice conversional piece to add to a collection. I'd rate it a "good" find.
conversion noun 1. the act or process of converting; state of being converted. 2. change in character, form, or function. 3. spiritual change from sinfulness to righteousness. 4. change from one religion, political belief, viewpoint, etc., to another. Hmm, not sure what to think here.
I have two one dime coins that’s been left with a lot of other coins and a family memeber has told me they was a collector of error coins? I don’t know anything about this along with all the rest I have so maybe some help would be great thanks
@paddyman98 is a BIG collector of error coins. Some really amazing and weird stuff he’s posted in the past. Your dime on the other hand is just nothing in particular. If you like it then Keep it, that’s what collecting is all about. What does that family member think? And have you perused their collection at all? Granted there are all levels of collecting.
I have been left a lot of coins and many are really wired and looks to be more like one coin on top of another etc etc I will take a few pics of some in a sec and give you an idea as I’m really no expert in coins at all as they have been left to me from a family member that passed away! Some have coloured spots on them so will take a few pic and send them across in next 5 mins or so.
... and all kinds of levels of errors, too. As if many even realize this. Some just have no market and as such are essentially worthless, even if they ARE errors.
Yeh I’m morn interested in value it’s more information as probably not worth anything anyway just like to know more about them as gaining a lot of interest in coins now to be honest few pics not many as there is a lot so just an idea
