Nice! The French have some mighty nice specimens & the obverse on this one is interesting....is that an anchor?
That is an anchor. This one is a later one year issue with this design struck with copper nickel. I have a few earlier French Indo China silver coins with the same design and Marianne's face is worn a bit. This is a really nice coin in hand. I need to work on my photos.
This just came today, a present from our new moderator Lord Marcovan! It is labeled as "Ancient India (Amirs of Sindh): bronze or copper coin Circa 870-1030. Struck in a region that is now part of modern Pakistan". Tiny little rascal, about 6mm D and 0.0 grams. My scale is too coarse to weigh such a light object I guess.
Busy photographing my Half Crowns and came across this one. Not strictly a "New Acquisition" but it is a long time since I have had it out and is much more what I want for my William IV collection:
This arrived today. Had a difficult time getting good shots. it has a very nice dark tone with spots of luster showing through. This is another that I would not typically purchase but found it while browsing looking for some Asian coins.
Picked these up last night at my local coin club auction. I was one of the very few that bid on the World coins. I had been wanting one of the Turks & Caicos 20 Crowns for a long time and got this one at a great price. A large 45mm diameter and 1.1509 ASW. Nice toning on the reverse. A little black on the edges from being in the mint package. The Silver Figi Florin, I picked up only because no one else bid on it. It goes in the World Silver collection. Turks and Caicos 1976 20 Crown, mintage 25,000 Figi 1943 Florin, mintage 250,000
