I would like to request information from anyone who might know the answer and/or could provide a link. There are silver lunar Britannias that are listed as "in capsule" or I have seen at LCS in capsules. They are not airtites. They are more rounded on the edges. Did the Royal Mint issue some Britannias in capsules? Thanks, Guys
I think they are issued in tubes, unless they are proofs. The capsule is probably an after-market item. I have seen just that type of direct-fit available for sale.
The capsules look quite a bit like this, where they have little marks all around the capsule that appear to help keep it in place. I am not positive it is the same as this listing, but the description says they're just like from the Royal Mint. So does the Royal Mint ever sell individual nonproof Britannias in capsules? https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Royal-Mint-...688053?hash=item5b3dbafaf5:g:TWQAAOSw0e9Uun9a
The only non-proof Britannias that I have ordered directly from the Royal Mint came mounted on a card with a plastic cover. One even covered only one side. I have ordered several from other sources that came in a "direct fit" plastic capsule. All of the proofs came in a capsule and case. This is only photo of coin mounted on card. BTW this one is a mint error that the Royal Mint replaced with a new coin at no charge. They told me to keep the error(defect) coin for free.
