Check to see if your online banking offers e-checks where THEY mail it for you and even eat the postage. Also, you can do the e-check to them without a physical paper check. I agree, even on a $100 sale, saving 2 or 4 bucks might not be much if you are impatient, I have often paid the PayPal penalty myself for exactly that reason, but if I were buying a monster box, the savings would be well worth waiting for for the check to clear.

APMEX on eBay is offering random year 1oz. AGEs for $14.99 over spot. You can use PayPal without a surcharge. That’s how I buy them.

Other top PMs dealers also have nice specials on AGEs and Gold Buffaloes raw on eBay. Gold Maples, too. Especially if you want to buy just one, it’s hard to beat.

  10. Yea I've bought from JM on eBay when they run those specials. I've never seen such a low premium on AGE before though personally. So this will by first one, I only have the 1/4s now

Because it's 2017 and it's a huge inconvenience to insist on someone using an obsolete payment method? A lot of people don't have checkbooks, envelopes, or stamps handy.

I haven't had a checkbook in about a decade. On the extremely rare occasion when someone insists on a check, I go online and submit a request for my bank to mail one on my behalf. Annoying.

To be fair, I believe that APMEX and JMBULLION serve two very different audiences.
or one, JMBULLION has a minimum order quantity of $100. APMEX has no minimum order quantity, but will charge you shipping for any order less tan $100.

Here are their top single coin prices from for 2017 ASE BU Silver Eagles TODAY,
    11/29/2017

    APMEX: $21.26 JMBULLION: $21.15
11 cents difference. not very significant, but if you only want one, you can't get it from JM.

best price for 500+ by check/wire
    AP: $19.41
    JM: $19.40
    1¢ difference. pfft.

I don't understand where the fierce battle against APMEX comes from. The post says you ordered from them once and it was an okay transaction, but never again.

Bottom line to me is, APMEX will cost you a few cents more, but has a wider range of options, and caters to the collector or investor with a smaller budget. JMBULLION plays to the big buyers more. Both are fine companies with excellent reputations, and I have personally never had a problem with either of them. And as far as holiday sales go, I buy the coin, not the elf.

Apmex is so much more trustworthy than a private ebay seller. I liked how you could buy damaged/cull bullion cheaper but I wont tolerate plugged coins. The mail delivery made me cringe with no bullion insurance at USPS. Our mail carrier has delivered ripped open christmas cards. Tracked package online and it showed up fine in 3 days. I still consider Apmex a fine option.

As mentioned above, many of these big bullion dealers have daily sales on EBAY that are very close to spot, with free shipping, and no credit card/PayPal fees.
"Daily deals Silver (or gold) Bullion".
These sales may not be on their own site.

Loss-leaders. They consider it advertising to get you to go to their website so they don't get hit with the ebay fees.

Those that don't compare prices prior to purchasing don't care about saving money, I guess.
Apmex is trustworthy, and they have a huge selection/ inventory. They are often not the least expensive however.

I typically only buy from APMEX if I’m spending $100 or more & that’s only after comparing price with other dealers. Anything below $100 comes with a $10 shipping fee. That’s just standard mail!! Adds a bit to the cost when I only want to buy a couple of silver coins. The one ounce variety
