Got these from someone who knows I collect old notes. Anything special here?

    Series 1981 & Series 1990

Condition issues hold these back....that and the stains.

If uncirculated and without the stains, I would think about keeping them, although $200 is not chump change. I like the look of the small head Franklins.

That's what I was thinking. They are not uncirculated (although not bad) so I can't see them having much premium over face, if any, at this time. I think I'm going to spend them. Thank you.

Swap them at the bank for a couple of uncirculated ones. :)

I would normally say keepers, but they have condition issues the stain on the 81
In particular would be tough to sell for any type of realistic premium above spot
Just undesirable from a collecting point of you the 90 does have a smaller stain
But still think this holds true.

Personally I would keep them because they are old, I know old doesn't necessarily mean valuable but it's cool! Also I don't know your finance state and 200$ is not a little amount of money so that might add to your question of keeping them.

    Thanks,
    Jacob

I was on the fence about whether to keep or spend, but realized that due to the condition these have very little chance of appreciating in value anytime soon. The way I think of it, I rather take the $200 and buy something I think has a better chance at appreciating sooner. Thanks everyone for the input.

Old doesnt mean valuable, condition is everything if your note is really rare, maybe
You could get away with it, to an extent but its more of an exception then a rule
Plus people usually seek problem free notes, for me personally like AU 55PPQ and
Above in most cases ,good quality and eye appeal and easy on the pocket book :)

I would spend these...you could pick up something far nicer with your $200.

Online price guide puts it at $102.
It's worth more to spend it than to save it.
A dealer isn't buying this. If you sell it on EBay you are losing money.
If you hold it for 20 years and it is worth $110, $100 today is most likely going to be worth much more than $110 in 20 years.

That's a great time to go grocery shopping. When I worked nights, I would go shopping at around 4 AM. Store was empty and no cashiers. So when I would get to the checkout line, someone who was stocking shelves, would FLY my stuff through the register 3 times faster than a regular checker, so they could get back to stocking.
