Yes, the R has split serif's, the top of the E shows some notching. I am not sure what to make of them yet.
I see what you are seeing but, that is only a lighting artifact. the obverse has all the markers for die pair 3 doubled bonnet. file lines under the D on the rays rev.
I'm thinking it an early die state of VAM-3, which is primarily defined by doubling in that ER anyway. VAMworld's plate pics aren't so definitive, and seem of a later die state. This one would be nice to get into the hands of @messydesk so he could create some more definitive imagery for the VAM.
Here is a look at the E and R, and I was able to slightly get the bonnet. Also the Motto has some doubling. I'd be happy to send this to @messydesk
Well, we've "paged" him, and your images are good enough for him to decide if it would be of use to the VAMming community to get better detail onto the relevant page. The doubling on the R is much more pronounced than the VAMworld page implies.
I just got back from Dubai with some of my staff, I was meeting with some potential Arab customers who look pretty much like they are going to give me their business. They are very interested in me helping them to invest in high, high end US rarities. It was a very busy trip and lots of work but we had some fun too
Most would say that it is better to be a day late and a dollar short! But, in your case @ed wood 654 it's pathetic! Get a grip!
