The three OP tetradrachms are waaaayyyy off, stylewise :(
And should they be real, they are not priced accordingly to their condition, meaning the seller perfectly knows what they're doing, IMO

Just checking out their "Terms" would have me avoiding them:

"5. All technical descriptions of the coins, and other items presented in the shop are established with great care and expertise . All information provided in the shop about items, notably regarding their source, dating, description, references and quality reflect the opinion of Numismatic Selections. With respect to quality, visitors can assess the quality of items for themselves by referring to the corresponding photos. Numismatic Selections cannot, therefore, be held liable in this respect, with the exception of authenticity, which is guaranteed. However, all claims regarding the authenticity of an item must be made in writing within 10 days of receipt of the merchandise.

After the (10) business day period, no items may be returned for any reason."

oooo and the people whom bought the coins should get a refund from Vcoins, they should do a better job in guarding our passion.

That is outrageous. Only 10 days to discover if your item is a fake and return it?

Shame on Vcoins for this. Between the fake patina controversies and now this, I am done with Vcoins. I will not buy anything else from Vcoins until they prove trustworthy again. By allowing 3 or 4 dealers to play unthically, I can no longer trust them at all.

Ken Dorney Yea, I'm Cool That Way...

The 10 day return time is a violation of VCoins Code of Ethics.

Vcoins should take down the code of ethics and be done with it. Recognise that you need to decide for yourself which dealers to trust. The fact that other dealers who have been discussed on this list continue to glue sand to the coins they sell and ignore previous undertaking to describe honestly, yet face no Vcoin sanction, tells you all you need to know.

Do not throw out the baby with the bathwater. I buy coins from some dealers on eBay; I buy coin from some dealers on VCoins. VCoins membership once was a badge of honor displayed by people who understood that term. Still? Your decision.

Agreed, yes - wasn't meaning to suggest otherwise. Being on VCoins or Ebay certainly isn't a badge of dishonour. On both sites I buy only from select dealers. I don't trust my own judgment enough to risk unknown sellers. But it's sad that VCoins seemed to start out as a trustworthy alternative to Ebay, but has turned into the same. I am not a lawyer, but I wonder if Vcoins is taking legal risk by posting a code of ethics that simply isn't applied.

Wait and see what they do.

I doubt their management are aware of this.

Even if they deal with this case, they have lost all credibility over the sand-gluers. Sellers agreed to describe honestly. They haven't. Many have complained. Vcoins hasn't acted. And there's the faux-reassurance quoted on this thread ('can't be fake because we have code of ethics'). As Doug says, people can make their own decisions. I have certainly made mine.

I think the "deal only with trusted dealers on VCoins" is good advice. But it's advice that only works for collectors with experience. I know that when I was a novice collector I was really comforted by the VCoins code of ethics. I felt it protected me somewhat in my inexperienced stage of collecting. It seems that that protection is no longer in place. Those fakes being sold on VCoins right now are terrible and obvious. You want a good way to kill this hobby and new markets? Just have a novice collector buy a fake because you got lax about your ethical oversight. That new collector is never coming back, and a potential lifetime of collecting and sales is gone.

I definitely will not recommend Vcoins in general to new mebers. However, I will still recommend a few dealers on Vcoins to them, with the caviat that other dealers not mentioned should be treated with caution and due diligence should be done.

I'm also thinking about starting a thead asking members here to contribute names of dealers on vcoins and other places they find trustworthy, and those that don't live to our expertations, and creating a PDF or a list that we can give to new members as a guide.

These look fine, just crappy photos. With a little searching you can probably find all the dies at CNG or Coinarchives. All the comments about style being wrong are incorrect. Style is just fine. Two of the obverse dies and one reverse die are already posted by TIF.

Yup the anonymity sends the red flags a fluttering. The coins look like someone's little garage project.

Although tough to tell on my phone, switching between photos is not easy, this looks like the obverse die for the SS. The other two tif already matched the obverse dies. IMG_2573.JPG

Well, even if the style is correct and those coins are authentic, I am still troubled by:

    1. Dealer not including any address or contact info anywhere
    2. A lifetime 10 day authenticity guarantee policy, which flies in the face of Vcoins rules.

And furthermore, it is still inexcusable that vcoins continues to tolerate the doctoring of coins via fake patina.
