I too have my faults. Which is why I'm glad we do such a good job keeping this forum coin related 99.99% of the time. I suspect if this was a forum about personality, or classiness, one could probably genuinely point out a few flaws with me. I'll be the first to admit that sometimes tactfulness is not my strong point. *This is my last post in this thread. I'm ready to move on to coins, which is frankly what I should have done. I wish in retrospect I had completely ignored this thread, but I won't take back what's been said. I'll just leave it as is and move on.
Whatever he case is, I miss him, He was never anything but civil and polite towards me. Hope he comes back soon.
You know there are various ways of collecting meanie points. If you keep getting one here and one there etc., you will eventually be blocked and cannot post. Once the oldest ones expire, you can post again even if you still have a few "active" ones. Christian
Is there an explanation of the point system somewhere? Do you receive a notice when receiving point/s ?
Basically yes and yes. Have a look at this topic for example: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/if-someone-is-banned.287634/ Christian
=> Stevex6 is awesome! I miss him a lot. And @Sallent is awesome! and @TIF is awesome! All three of you have made my life more enjoyable! It would be a tragedy if Steve ever received a permanent ban. I did see him once getting a little too "passionate" in defending ancients. Steve, if you're reading this, and you're OK with me sending you a gentle Canuck reminder of how much we'd miss you if you got banned, maybe "follow" me so you're reachable. Maybe? Or not, if it would just be annoying (probably?) I don't have many animal coins, but here's one for Steve: And one for Sallent, since he's on a Chinese kick right now. Yuan dynasty: Wu Zong (Khaishan) (1308-1311). Hartill 19.46. And finally, this one for TIF. (It did finally arrive.) Octobol of Ptolemy III, 46mm and 93.27g.
This thread and several like it lately are taking a lot of the fun out of this group. On several occasions I have mentioned the really neat feature of CT software allowing you to click on their name to bring up their profile page and selecting 'ignore' which will cause their posts not to be displayed on your feed. If someone bothers you, ignore them. If I bother you, please ignore me. If you are here for any reason other than to share your mutual love of our hobby, please ignore me even if you do not know whether my previous posts bother you or not.
I think I have to write a few words here I come here for coins and friendship and find here coins and friendship (@stevex6 and @Sallent being with some others among the ones I like the most) which is great. On occasions I've seen some rude and nasty words and on others some weapons and guns. From my european point of view the weapons are far more shocking (for us here it's real porn) than nasty words, or even nude bodies. A question of culture and home rules I guess. When I see something I dyslike, I pass, and as mentioned by Doug above, I find myself able to ignore it and can live with it (without actually). Steve's qualities (friendship, knowledge, humor, active participation) surpass by far his defaults (we probably all have defaults), it would be a pity, and lot of sadness, to have him leaving permanently CT Q
Ditto I'm not one who likes confrontation. If someone says something I don't care for, I just ignore it (not the ignore button - just move on). This has not happened here for me but a couple of times. In general, this is my happy place to escape and talk about things I enjoy. I hope it stays this way. I left one other forum because it was too restrictive and thus took away enjoyment. I find CT to be just about right for me. Personally, I miss Steve's posts and humor.
That's interesting about guns. I had no idea. Is that feeling mostly throughout Europe or just your area?
I dont know where Cucumbor comes from but that feeling is more prevalent in Western Europe whereas in the EU countries more to the East gun regulations are more relaxed (so far) and there are more guns in private hands.
I can't talk for the whole Europe, but at least here in France we're not very much into guns. Basically we don't have guns (only hunters have guns) and talking about guns isn't seen in a good way. I don't know of any individual around me (at work or friends and family) owning one, and we just never discuss that Q
Might as well shime in as this is a topic unrelated to Steve. As an American gun owner, I find Americans' obcession with talking about their guns 24/7 a bit anoying. I mean, I own underwear and socks too, but you don't see me talking about them 24/7. I don't see the gun thing as any different. Now watch, I bet you there is someone in a gun forum saying the same about coins right now: "My uncle Bob talks about his coins all the time. How borring and anoying."
I am not European, but I agree with you 100%. I prefer nude bodies to guns but neither belong here IMO. on another note. There are darksides and there are DARK Sides I'm not judging..... Unless you slab your ancients, then I start wanting to strangle Yoda's
Think that's true for pretty much all European Union member states. Switzerland (non-EU) is a somewhat different story ... Christian
I believe Steve has a very strong sense of responsibility. He might be of contradictory character sometimes, but that's maybe a character. He also knows when to apologize if he has to. I can't believe he could leave us after that long friendship.
