I can't at the moment, but I've often experienced it on my "Box of 20" posts that include 20 images (which, I believe, happens to be the maximum number of images per post permitted).
OK thanks. This should be fixed now. There is a 10 second timeout on the time loading images on the page, which I've now increased to 120 seconds for those on slower connections.
Here are the two bad ones for me. They seem to be okay at the moment. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ga...ar-plus-prize-coin.298151/page-8#post-2772032 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/the-coin-uno-or-follow-the-leader-game-world-coins-edition.288303/
Everything just loaded instantly for me. Could there have been a glitch for a while ? Sure, it's to expected when things like software updates, new servers, or any changes are made to the back end of the forum. I've never once seen when there wasn't a few glitches when those things happen. That said, we still have to remember that when any of us access the internet the signals from our computer or devices are bouncing all over the place, through this server and that server and some other dang server, maybe a dozen or more before the signal ever gets to where it's going and back again. And whatever glitch we experience, at whatever time we experience it - that glitch could be at any of those points along the way. Keep that in mind. Meanwhile, if you experience one, by all means speak up and point it out. But don't just "talk" about it, post links (or screenshots) to whatever page you're having a problem with. That's the only way that a problem, if there is a problem on our end, can be tracked down and fixed.
Well, I initially thought it probably was on my end but thought it worth asking. Two others experienced the same so I then realized it may be on the back end of the server. But by then it was working so I could not gather a screenshot. Anyway, whatever it is seems to be cleared up, being on my end, the server end, or somewhere in between. So I wasn't "just talking" about it, rather taking a step by step approach that avoided accusing the server until more information was gathered.
I have no problem with you bringing up, to the contrary, I even asked you, or anybody else, to do so. I merely said what I said so as to point those things out, more in regard to any future incidents than what is going on right now.
That's most likely because you have a good broadband connection. The problem Matt described (and fixed) would affect people on a satellite connection, where there's a second or two of delay every time you send a separate request off to the Web server -- and there are a lot of requests and round-trips to load the images on a long thread. I'm guessing that it would still be pretty hopeless for someone on a dial-up connection, but I'm not sure there's much that can be done to help those poor folks at this point. Some forum systems let you set how many posts get displayed per page, but I don't think XenForo does -- at least, I couldn't find a setting for it just now in my preferences.
Yeah I get all that Jeff. Pretty sure most folks, but not all, do have broadband. I was merely confirming that it worked for me too right then because glitches come and go sometimes. As for the limits, I think it's set at 20 posts for page for everybody. And the software alters file sizes for pics to make them at least somewhat manageable for folks with lower connection speeds. Even with broadband there's a lot of different speeds. And we limit the number of pics per post to 10 - for uploads to CT anyway. If you post pics hosted elsewhere, there is no limit, at least not one I've ever found. And on a different subject but similar in a way, there is a problem with some outside platforms and how they try to post pics - like TapTalk. It seldom works but that has to do with TapTalk not CT.
https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ga...ting-backward-by-year-plus-prize-coin.298151/ Link to page that I had problems posting pics. It was near the time of new server installation, and I haven't had any problems since. Probably nothing, but thought I'd mention it.
Still having a problem with the thread: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ga...ar-plus-prize-coin.298151/page-8#post-2772315
(putting on my tech-support hat, although it's a bit moth-eaten Can you tell us about what you're using to view it? Device (PC/Mac/Android/iOS), OS version, browser? (Loads fine for me, but I'm on a pretty fast/current machine and connection...)
That thread loads fine for me as well. One thing to note about using Opera, is that all requests through Opera go via their own servers first, you don't hit the site directly, they basically proxy all your traffic. https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/20...r-starts-running-traffic-through-its-own-vpn/
