Took long enough! Bought it last year. Passed on a 65cam for it. The dcam is awesome in hand! Thanks Phil!
The only reason I don't like Stella is that I would be summarily executed by my wife if I bought one.
1794 silver dollar next up? Amazing coin. Not too often you have the pleasure to look at one. I've seen a genuine $10000 bill in person before though.
Truly a gorgeous coin! I love Stella's, just too bad they are way outside my price range! I'd love to see that one in hand.
The obverse on that one is especially nice. I'd love to see some better pics of it, though, which show the cameo contrast (or any contrast at all). It is completely lost in this picture, as is any surface texture or quality. Send the coin to a decent photographer, and get good pics of that beauty!
A different example in similar grade sold for a little over $175,000 at the winter FUN Show Signature Auction this year. An important and historic issue, fortunately preserved in near-original quantity for posterity. This is the kind of coin which brings home the point that as numismatists we are merely temporary caretakers of history. Thank you, Traz. It's a genuine pleasure to look at this piece.
The closest I will ever come to owning one of those is going to a high end dealer or show and asking to see it and then having a quick daydream about sprinting out of the building before returning it. Beautiful coin, thank you very much for sharing; I've never seen one before.
