What grade would you assign these coins? What would you estimate the values at??? I'm not at all familiar with real world pricing of Philippines coins. I can't say I know how to grade them either. We're these coins struck at the US mint in San Fran?? I prefer to know these things BEFORE I buy a coin....... Thanks in advance , as I thought this was a cool set with a cool display.... What say ye??
Nice one, remember what you paid 4 that? If you don't mind me asking, or was it 4 score and 20 years ago?
As a set you can find them anywhere from $35-$50. The Capitol holder is going to add a little. I picked up mine separately for about $38 total. Both of these will show soft strikes.
Aaaaaaah, thanks sonlarsen, I remember you from a past world forum visit.... You da man Thanks Ken, you da man too
I like the holder. The coins are really common and not heavily collected. Usually found in UNC or BU, $20-25 for the peso and $10-15 on the half. I'd expect to see $50 on your set, counter at $40 and settle on $45.
Ok, New question: I'm gonna list this set in the sell forum- How much should I ask/expect to get out of it...
I am. I have the entire series of U.S. Philippines coins. This particular coin was a non-circulating commemorative, so virtually all are in uncirculated condition. As to the specific grade, I won't hazard a guess. Every example I've seen, including mine, has a very weak strike.
The peso looks a little baggy, I would say 62-63. The 50c looks pretty good, maybe 64-65. You should be able to get 50-75 for that set on eBay... Just my opinion.
