$50. On the nose...1864 FND -001 DDO plus struck though grease. Au./Ms. In hand R~8 variety 3 known graded
My first hard times token, and a particularly ugly Liberty. $32. Problem-free examples go for a lot more. From my limited research, "Loco Foco" refers to a faction of the Democratic party in New York. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locofocos And the "Benton's Experiment / Mint Drop" refers to Senator Thomas Hart Benton, a supporter of President Jackson’s hard money policies. Mint drop was either a slang term for new lower weight gold coins, or a reference to Benton's monetary policies in general. I've seen conflicting explanations.
1813 Rio de la Plata Sunface 2R $47 before shipping This is the first year coins were struck for Argentina and Uruguay
Got this on the 'Bay for $35 with shipping included. Pics were terrible, coin just looked okay, since they were so blurry and dark. Turns out, the coin has incredible toning, and while it doesn't show in these pictures, it has some of the best mint luster I've seen on an IHP (that I have owned) Am sending it in to pcgs just for the fun of it
Uh, you bought a counterfeit? I guess it's amusing but I'm not sure how I feel about supporting them with a purchase.
