Since this board is having issues as I type this, I doubt Charmy can get on. So I will post this for her since I saw it on the PCGS boards. I will post this in my show report, but won't get to it until Monday, and this is too good to wait. It occurred on Friday. Don Perlman posted this on Facebook. "This surveillance video shows Positive Protection, Inc. security guard and former New York City Police homicide detective Patrick Coward on the left as he immediately chased and tackled a suspected coin thief when the suspect tried to flee from a coin show in Long Beach, California on Friday, June 10, 2016. His alleged accomplice is then stopped at the door while carrying a backpack with a reported $300,000 in rare coins believed stolen in an earlier theft in the San Bernardino, California area. Posted on behalf of PPI. Video courtesy of Stack's Bowers Galleries." On Saturday morning when I arrived at the parking garage, there were lots of police vehicles blocking the entrance. I later found out they had located the thieves' vehicle and found the rest of the stolen coins in the trunk. http://s441.photobucket.com/user/thepennylady/media/2016 06 Long Beach/Long Beach Theft_zpsvsbqim0l.mp4.html
Hmm, when I load the Photobucket page there is no photo or video. This has been a tech-problem-heavy week. Sigh.
Works for me, it's a MP4. I even used the share option to get the link from photobucket, that's it in the OP post.
I was able to open it in Chrome . Dramatic video! I hate Safari and hope CoinTalk's security certificate is renewed soon
I was able to watch the video, Good guys take down the alleged thief. Great video, thanks for posting.
We were there, in fact we had stepped up into the auction room just prior to this happening. The auctioneer kept talking about a great football tackle downstairs - and I didn't put it all together (Football in June?) After winning my auction lot (YEAH!!!!!) we went back down to the show and saw the cops all over, and the first thing that came to my mind was "thief" at the show. Yes, it all ended as well as it could. Thieves caught (unfortunately not shot), goods returned to rightful owners. In other news - sorta related - and funnier! A bicycle thief was chased down by a cowboy on horseback in Oregon, lassoed and hog-tied - and held for the police. http://www.oregonlive.com/trending/2016/06/would-be_bike_thief_brought_do.html Yee Hah!
Yeah, I've watched the news. An unbelievable tragedy that sickens me and any decent person. Beyond that, any other comments I have would likely be viewed as political and against site rules.
WOW! I was supposed to be there Saturday AM and my wife hurt herself and we couldn't go. Under the heading of "all things happen for a reason" I'm glad we weren't there. Just love love love when the bad guys go down.
I saw the video, It was there. At the end of the clip everyone gathered around the front door. Funny seeing back of heads. I hope he went to jail.
