I search loomis on everything. Silver is better for nickels and dimes. They are shorting boxes now.

But you are also finding a lot of V nickels, Buffaloes, etc. I'd be happy to get shorted and find stuff like that

don't mess with it or tamper with it. Take it to the bank where you picked it up and give it to them. They should replace it with one that is full.
At least that is what my bank would do.

If that is so, you should start opening the box in front of the teller and go through them quickly. If there are any obviously short they should replace them.
Hopefully if they get enough of them they will go back to Loomis and then they will start being more careful. (it really is easy enough to weigh each roll to be sure it is within reasonable weight)

As to that nic. back in that day they ran dies long and hard and would make a lot of coin that was struck with badly worn dies. Could just be one at the end of a die's life after a long hard run. Or maybe someone started to melt it because it was part silver? or ??? if you want more on that try posting on errors or US Coins sections. More knowledgeable folks over there on this subject. We're just a bunch o' bean counters --- er uh --- coin counters LOL

Do you always get good silver from half dollars?

No I run cold sometimes with the half dollars, then I like to switch things up

Dimes are pretty easy because I will just edge search the rolls.

String & sons makes the paper wrappers only, they're not in the coin distribution business.

Finished a box of cents that's been sitting on my desk for the better part of a week.
Wheats were meh but I did pull this CUD. It's zincoln (and in crappy shape) 198_ CUD 31May16.jpg but I can't make out the date beyond 198_. http://cuds-on-coins.com doesn't have any from the 80's that are listed that look mine.

NLL, sorry, I just saw your question. I've been roll hunting for about three years and found them over that time period.
