I see what you are referring ot, but I'd like to see it at an angle, just to be sure that it is wear and not toning , say from being in an old brown envelope. Which would hit the high points first.
I take everything back, although this image takes forever to download, (Ruben: next time try a lighter background, the black takes forever). Looking at the 'twigs' in her arm, magnify the image, it looks like it was polished. It shouldn't show the rounding of the images.
Nice coin. I love walker halves. and that one is cool. Thanks for putting your address on your website. When do you go on vacation? JJJJuussssttt kkkiddddiiinnnngggg
Thanks for the comments about the coin. I do apreciate it a great deal. However, didn't you make this point once before? Enough. At the age of 44, 6 kids, soldiering on 3 countinents, with kids maybe older than half the posters here, and being involved with the internet for over 12 years, perhaps when many others here where in kindergarten, I can perfectly judge how to make my phone number and address available on the net, let alone how to best protect my children. The obsession on this is beginning to bug me -- so please stop it. Again, thank you for the kind words. If you happen to be in Brooklyn you are welcome to drop in for a beer or a cup of coffee. We always have an open home. Yours Truely Ruben
Frank is Treashunt. As for the coin being polished, I think the large pics distort the condition in that regard. Yes I see what Treashunt/Frank is saying, but I never even looked at the large pics when I voiced my opinion. I think the large pics are just reflecting too much light - the small pics show the coin closer to how it really is IMO.
Ruben: Please look at the branches to the right of the obverse. Do they look 'polished' to you? If not, then it is as GDJMSP said, just the lighting. If the coin is more like the smaller photos, then I go back to saying: nice coin, nice strike. Ruben, that is one nice strike for a 1940's S mint coin.
Ruben: I don't know, it must be the high resolution. But--- that is one really nice Barber 1/2. Whose slab? Looks like an NGC. If so, what date, I saw the Denver mintmark, and if not polished, then wow, really Proof-like.
That Barbara is one of my very favorite coins. I picked it up from a Heritage Auction. I don't think it was polished, or cleaned, but then explain the whiteness after a century? Here is a scan that shows the detail without the illusion of luster http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/barbara_obverse_1915_D_scanner.png http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/barabara_1915_D_obverse_very_clear.jpg
Ruben: That is one really nice Barber Half dollar! A true keeper. The only question is why it was only a MS-62.
Here is the thread when I brought it and we discussed this is detail http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=11555

Yeah, I would say that it likely has few enough contact marks to warrant a higher grade. But, it was graded MS-62 because it appears to have bee dipped somewhat heavily. It is still a nice coin that any collector would love to have in his/her collection.
