    Unfortunately not a lot. A couple of dollars maybe. It probably meant a lot more to the person that smoothed the back and wore it as a necklace.

    If you enjoy the coin, that is what matters. Don't let a couple of dollars here or there discourage you for enjoying the hobby. What I like about this coin is that it displays its history. Somebody, likely long ago, cared enough about it to wear around their neck. Maybe it was a good luck piece, or maybe it was a love memento the 19th century, who knows? Either way, enjoy the coin for what it is, a well loved piece of history from before the civil war.

    I can't see it being a fake after what someone went through to wear that as a piece of jewelry, that to is a tell tail sign, it's legit.
