My oldest GB coin yet.

    I won a 1584 Elizabeth I Hammered 6d for $17.00 shipped. It's not in the best condition, but it's 429 years old. I would have preferred a better example, but the better ones are $100+

    I'm not sure how the seller gathered the year, since it's worn off, but it's no older than 1603

    I'm confused. Wouldn't 1584 be older than 1603?

    Anyway, given how over-exposed the photo is, you can probably see the date in person, but the coins probably looks harshly scrubbed in hand.

    When you decide to complain about the coin when you receive it, please just post in this thread. Don't make an entirely new one. After all, you somehow managed to create four threads before anyone else posted, according to the new threads sidebar.

    1603 is when James became king of England. So an Elizabeth I coin will be from before that date ...

    I get that. I didn't get how OP's statement that the coin can't be older than 1603 would be true if the coin is from 1584. I'll assume they meant can't be newer and simply don't understand that time, insofar as we can measure it, is unidirectional.
