http://www.ebay.com/itm/190825292111?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 It sold for $291. It includes 10 silver quarters 26 silver dimes 65 war nickels Total silver value at todays spot price = $169 291-169= $122 profit to seller (not including ebay fees) who in there right mind would spend that price? I should start listing these Is there something im not seeing here?
Wonder if this will turn out to be one of the buyers that complains about "too many war nickels". Seems like there are quite a few sellers on eBay at any given time using this scam, er, "approach" to market overpriced junk...
Well, after examining the auction, there's a lot to be desired by the sheer layout. Some deceiving, but catches himself with a thorough explanation of what you get. I'm thinking he/she needs to use a different photo, the halves pictured is false advo on this one. Only the naive would know that the war nickels are 90%.
If you are seeing the same thing I am seeing, I see nothing but extremely common silver coins in the picture. Certainly no "Seated Liberty" quarters! LOL. No Barbers or Mercuries, either. And while there are halves in the picture, none are mentioned in the description.
I think we here on cointalk are educated daily about silver and it value. Keep in mind more and more new people are hearing on tv and else where that buying silver is a good investment. Seems thats as far as they read and start pouring their money into anything that they can buy up quick. Wonder how many on this site me included would be doing the same thing?
Howdy folks, Woody's spot on. Most folks don't have any idea of coins, bullion or their value. Accordingly, they get led around to this bargain and that. Geez, look at all the folks buying coins off of TV shopping channels. We've all priced them out and know that they're anywhere from 50-100% overpriced. A lot of folks are scared or this or that and as such, they are easy to manipulate. Alas and alack. peace, rono
Lots of TV ads this weekend hawking silver and gold as great investments. Undoubtedly piqued the interest of lots of uninformed/uneducated/inexperienced "investors."
omg look at how many people bought this http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEAL-OF-THE...72?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item46068339f8 Im seriously going to buy a ton of war nickels and do this.
I just did the calculations for this listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/190825292111?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 and whoever bought it bought silver at $39 an ounce.
