The coin is a 1969-D Roosevelt Dime. I just need some help with the identification (name) of the type of error (if it is an error type) on this dime. The obverse and reverse of this coin has what appears to be 2 complete rims. I have seen a tons with short, partial double rims, but none with 2 complete rims on both sides. If it is a type of error, what is the proper name?
Mike Diamond gave me the answer...it's called finning. Error-ref.com says, "It is caused by excessive striking pressure or a localized increase in striking pressure caused by slight die tilt. The extra pressure causes coin metal to squeeze into the narrow gap between die neck and collar."
