I'm in the market for an AGB 1 oz. proof coin.

The good ol' US mint wants about $1860 for a 2012 plus about $5 to ship it to me.

Provident will sell me an older proof coin (with mint packaging) for $1722.40 and about &12 to ship it.

Ebay gives me the willies so not a consideration.

My personal hierarchy of value is: beauty and authenticity and cost. I don't care about the date or should I? I don't think I care about resale value since I never sell anything that I've collected (fossils, minerals, etc.).

    So is this a no-brainer? Am I over-thinking this?

Are you looking for the more recent custom wood case or the older standard case for the proofs ?

I wish I have a handful of the 2008 set. The fractionals are pretty darn cool. Good luck with your AGB.

These pics make me miss mine. Guess a trip to the bank is needed so it can reclaim it's spot on the nightstand. Mine has the wood box - makes a nice presentation IMO.
