I'm sure this has been asked, but I'm actually pretty lazy as far as reading through 1000 different posts. But what's the easiest way to get in to roll hunting? Up until now my father had provided me with the coins I search. I'm ready to start looking for something new, something that doesn't come from my fathers stash of coins. What would be the easiest thing to start with? Buying pennies from the bank?

First off, welcome to Coin Chat!:welcome: As far as CHR (coin roll hunting) goes, where you start mostly depends on what you want to collect, or what you are looking to find. Beyond that, just go to the bank and buy rolls.

Thanks. I've tried asking a teller at my credit union for rolls of coins ( anything) and the dude literally handed me paper holders. I tried explaining that I wanted coins IN the holder and he handed me another empty holder. At that point I gave up. I'm really into any kind of coins, doesn't matter...I just enjoy looking through them. Any suggestions as to how to get the "stoned" bank teller to hand over some bank rolls?

LOL. Just go in and tell him : I need X rolls of _______.

X being the number of rolls you want and the blank is for the denomination.

Credit unions are usually my dump banks. I have never dealt with one that i particularly cared for. Not that they are bad or anything. I have just not had good experiences with them.

Haha, I'll give em a try again. I seriously felt like I was speaking a different language when I went in there before, the guy looked at me like I was asking for his blood

Try reading the FAQ, it's there for a reason.

Hi Erin! I have just started getting into this too. I do as jatallman87 suggested. I have just walked up and asked for $10 in pennies, etc. I am still trying to find a bank that will order halves for me...but it has been like a treasure hunt and lots of fun!
