Longin there is a part of contraian in me. Part of my life goals are to travel the world, and acquire and passdown a stunning numismatic collection. In my opinion I have no respect for money. Nothing but a ticket for fantasies which poker players throw around like paper airplanes. But I do respect it enough to realize that has an opportunity cost/vested interest in my future goals. 90% I'll finish school and bang my head against a cubicle for 10 years, but I do want to eventually take a chance with numismatics.
I wish you and other coin investers well *sincerely.* It's tough on young people today to find much opportunity. Investing in anything might better than trying to get ahead in a corporation where your just an expendable. The future, to me at least, has a lot of black swans circling overhead, so anything may be possible. Maybe even another 1979-80. Even the pigs were flying. LOL But what GDJMSP said about knowledge, timing and luck will probably still be around for a long time. Good luck.
I don't know why I re-visited this thread, but I had to laugh at that. actualy, I think one of my friend said that to another person. whats (my first name) doing? just talking to his coin nerds.
My wife asks me all the time what kind of idiot would buy a penny for $100. It makes me laugh every time.
