Anyone know of any coin shops in Germany? I live in Baumholder which is about 2 hours SW of Frankfurt. I usually buy online but for some reason love the feel of looking around a coin shop. Thanks everyone! Joe
try making contact with fngcoins.com or e-mail them at info@fngcoins.com Perhaps they might be helpful.
I don't live in the area you indicate, but in Frankfurt there a couple which I have visited. Further SW you may try Heldelberger Münzhandlung. Not sure if they have a shop (probably), but better known for their auctions held in Heildelberg 2-3 times per year. I hardly ever go to shops anymore - prefer auctions and big coin fairs. Be sure not to miss the Frankfurter Numismata in November.
Thanks for the heads up on that! They are deactivating the unit I'm in so I don't know if I'll still be here then but if I am then I will definitely be there!
This is their website: http://www.hdmhg.de/; seems they do not have a walk-in store. In Mannheim there is KPM which does, according to the dealers guide in MünzenRevue: http://www.kpm-mannheim.de/ But in both cases, asking in advance cannot hurt. Here are two German coin dealer associations; they have lists of dealers which could be helpful too. http://www.muenzen-verband.de/haendlersuche/mitgliederliste/ (then view/download the PDF file) http://www.vddm.de/cont-mitglieder.htm As for coin shows, well, the biggest one (and apparently the biggest coin show on earth) is the World Money Fair in Berlin, annually in late Jan/early Feb. But just like the Numismata, it has its "siblings". In mid-September, for example, there is one in Stuttgart: http://www.worldmoneyfair.ch/smm/english/index.html ... Christian
In Frankfurt there is Busso Peus of course http://www.bussopeus.de/ but again I do not know whether you can walk in and buy coins. Just call/mail and ask. And here http://dersaarspezialist.de/ is a store in Saarbrücken; don't know the place, and it may be a little far from Baumholder, but who knows ... Christian
