I would like a complete list of canadian coins, but didn't want to spend 90 bucks on the World Coins book. Want to start a canadian coin collection, pocket change type, and also Whitman does not make folder for canadian coins anymore. i have some from when i was a child; Any other folder manufacturers out there that make them?
Hi Andrew, This site (http://www.stanford.edu/~clint/cp/) is a good start...has a fairly good list of most of the Canadian decimal coinage from the earliest up until 2004, including most major varieties. Although in some circumstances it does lists coins minted as proofs, specimens or trials (like the 1911 S$1), not what I would personally include in a 'business strike' collection. Probably wouldn't go by the prices listed there as a 'trends' price list though. Also, it won't provide you with mintage figures if you are after that information. Mintage figures are available on the Royal Canadian Mint website but again I really question how accurate that information really is. Charlton's Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins is probably your best bet. It will give you a good idea on mintages, including known number of coins returned for melting and in some cases mintage figures for varieties too...as already mentioned might find this at the library. Take care.
..just to add....these guys (http://www.falconcoins.com/supplies.html) seem to still have a stock of some of the out of print whitman folders available (including type set folders)/
There is Canadian coin books for under $30 that list all Canadian coins by Charlton. Also one for bills.
I have to agree with everbody with Charlton's "Canadian Coins." it is the best source for info on Canadian Coins. I personally think it is better then Krause's "World Coins" for info on Canadian coins. It has cover price of $14.75 US. You can also find it on Amazon.com
