First of all, the only mention of anything addressed to you was a thank you for some advice that you had posted concerning the conservation services of NCS. Nowhere in the original post did he imply that he was only interested in selling to you or that he was offering the collection solely to you (or to any other forum member for that matter); thus, I have done nothing wrong. I didn't even see you express an interest in purchasing the coin. If you cannot handle internet transactions, then perhaps you should use private messages or other restricted contact methods. Finally, the message stated unequivocally that the 1878 CC Trade Dollar was not certified, but there was no explicit mention that the 1875 CC Trade Dollar was not certified.

I think your post was rude. I am well within standard trade practices/ ethical and professional guidelines.

I don't think the OP offered the coin for sale to anyone. As for the standard trade practices and professional guidelines: It's against forum rules to buy/sell anything in any place except the classifieds and private messages. Just my opinion, but i don't think the intentions of his response to you was meant to come off as rude.

Thank you for alerting me to my infraction concerning forum rules. I was not aware of this, and I certainly will refrain from further infractions. With regards to professional guidelines, I was referring to ethical guidelines, indicating that I did not violate any Code of Professional Conduct. I know that the OP didn't offer the coin to anyone, but only expressed an intention to sell the coin at some point. This is the same interpretation that I had; I was just alerting a potential seller to the fact that there was some immediate interest in the coin.

    Thanks again for your help!

Well, I'm not Stealer... but I would recommend a close examination (10-14X magnification if possible) of the surfaces. If they have a lot of small pockmarks, the coin might be a cast copy.

Hey CoinMan . . .No the 1875 CC T is not certified . . .I'm submitting it also to NCS. I'm attaching a photo of it here. I'll also send a finished NCS product when I get it. Yes . . .I did express my intention to sell my collection . . .when I get my head on straight with all of this excellent information from the members . . .I'll look into the proper procedure for offering items for sale. And once again . . .I appreciate your informative responses.

I don't think that your 1875 CC Trade Dollar would benefit from conservation at NCS; rather I think you should submit it directly to NGC. NCS is the conservation branch of the parent company that owns NGC. NGC is the coin certification company. If you send your conis to NCS, they will charge you money that you likely don't need to spend, and it will delay the processing of your coins.

    Best of luck.

Wow, that '75 CC is sharp! I am in no way an expert in trade dollars, but it looks like it has some very light wear on it. I'd call it an AU58.
