Michael Terry

Born Decatur Alabama, left there when I was 16. Swore into US army on 17th Birthdate. Served two combat tours in Viet-Nam as a Recon Scout, First in Last out.Wounded twice, had Malaria 3 times, both types. I am 100 Percent Disabled Veteran. I served two tours in Germany, have a Hard Headed
German Wife. I was in The Army for 11, 1/2 years. I was discharged as a Staff Sergeant E-6. I had planned on staying in for full retirement, but at the time I was in Germany again and my mother was dying with cancer and The Army refused to give me a hard ship Reasienment back To the US. At the time in my mind, I had done any and everything that the Army had ever asked me too do including putting my life on the line many times. If that was the way they were going to treat me then they did not need me. So I walked away and never looked back. At this time I was in Colorado. Jobs were hard to come by then. I had to work 2 jobs at the time just to make it. Close to a year later I lucked out and got a job to go to Saudia Arabia to train their National Guard under a national defense contract. After my contract was over I returned to Colorado. I then began a life as a gold prospector. I was able to lease some mining claims in Alaska. So in 1980 I sold everything that I owned, bought a Cat D8 Dozer, built a washing plant and we moved to Alaska and I have been here every sence. I mined up north on the Alaska side not all that far from where you see those guys on TV. I mined and made my living until 1986 until the EPA landed their helicopter on my claim took a water test that I was discharging, said I did not meet the clean water act standerds and shut my mine down. I moved to Anchorage and lucked out again and got a Job working for the postal service. I never had anything to do with the mail, I had a job which I will not go into at this time. My health. Problems from Viet-nam caught up with me and I have been brought back to life several times. I bought my military time to ad on to my postal service time so I have credit for 32 years Civil Service. I have to say that I have had a very interesting life.
It would take a book just to explain my time in Alaska. It would also take a book just to tell and explain the many times that my life has been given back to me THere is someone up above whether it be god one of his angles that watches me and saves me from all the close calls that I have had. I just can not explain it and understand why I am still here on this earth. I know in my heart that there has to be a God up there. Like I said it would take a book to explain and tell everything.
