    Before Theodoric wasn't his Ostrogoths but Odoacer, first barbarian king of Italy, and his foederati troops. Are you saying its from Odoacer's reign (476-493 AD)? Because that would be even better imo!
    I knew about the Roman world only having gold and bronze nummi (and small amounts of silver siliquae), but not that the Ostrogoths had come up with the 40 nummi. Thanks for that piece of info!
