    went through a box of nickels that I wasn't planning on getting : 3 War Nickels, 25 pre-'60, 1 canadian, 1 2009, 1 1993 proof, and 1 1935 buffalo in great condition... finally.

also, I was dumping a box of pennies and $50 skunk halves that i had gotten yesterday and a 1878 "dos centavos" peruvian coin in the reject bin.

I finished my box of halves and pulled a 67. Also, I visited my local flea market and got a 1981 and 1982 proof set for $8 total and got a 1996W dime for $0.50 which is still in the plastic. Now tell me I got a good deal

Again, not exactly roll searching but really close. I was out garage sale shopping today and found an estate sale with coins. I picked up some Morgans, a Peace, an MS63 1883 V nickel without cents, a few others and a bank bag with 2400 wheats in it. The 2400 wheats is what I want to ask about as I am not really a penny/cent guy. The gramma that passed away was a big coin collector. Most of the coins were taken to Heritage in Dallas and are being auctioned off. As the family came to town this weekend and prepped for the sale they found a few coins here and there. The old bank bag of pennies was hidden in the linen closet under quilts. Anyway, I am watching football and pulled out a big handful to look through. Lots of post 1940 wheats but also:

    1915D, 1910, 1919S, 1914, 1920, 1934D, 1929S, 1928, 1913, 1919, 1917, 1919, 1917, 1929D, 1925D, 1929D, 1930, 1916D, 1930D.

Did a second handful but that will be all for now:

    1929, 1919, 1939, 1927, 1929, 1937, 1920D, 1927, 1923, 1927, 1938, 1925, 1926, 1928D, 1936, 1920, 1919, 1915, 1912, 1936, 1919D, 1925D, 1936, 1934, 1920

So I guess my question is...Should I sell these as unsearched rolls of wheats or search the bag for key dates and then sell just as wheats etc... any thoughts?

Like I said, I don't mess with pennies much (Too hard on the eyes lol) but I bought the 2400 wheats for $40 which I thought was fair.

    Were it I, I'd search them...but that's what I'm like. I don't mind messing with pennies.

It sounds like you want to go ahead and list them unsearched. If you've got your regrettometer under control, that may be the best course for you given the hassle factor you talked about.

colligoergosum I collect, therefore I am

If you do sell them in unsearched rolls I would buy a couple, I've never felt comfortable with the "OMG unsearched wheats w/ mercury dime!! 1916 d???" crap on ebay because it is simply unreasonable for so many "original" cent rolls to have dimes in them, let alone dime enders. I'm pretty sure they knew how to separate dimes from cents back then. What condition are most of the wheats in?

4 boxes of dimes and 2 boxes of halves from Wachovia (Garda) - Zilch
$100 in CWR of dimes - 181 silvers! - 3 solid rolls full and 31 in another roll. I couldn't believe it, and was just grumbling a couple mins earlier about not finding anything in the Garda boxes.

Tough to answer. As someone who cherry picks cents, looking for errors and varieties, I can tell you that it's time consuming. I searched 10 rolls the past week and came up with only 2 minor DDs after considerable time spent. Then again, it's my hobby, so I don't mind.

If you're just looking to go thru the 2400 wheats looking for key and semi key dates, it shouldn't take that long.

Erin, if you're looking to sell off the wheats as a bulk buy, shoot me a PM and let me know what you'd want for them.
