    Dan,
So you're saying there's no way to tell. Oh well, it's still silver and my first mackrel so it's pretty cool in my opinion.
    Thanks

That's nice of them to let you do that, they would be my favorite bank too. It's almost like pulling silver from a tellers tray.

Yes, it's still silver. It's a keeper, no doubt.

jamee, that indian is GORGEOUS! i have found 2 out of 30 boxes and none were even close to that. amazing find!

went through a nickel box, found 30 pre-'60 and 2 War Nickels, went to pick up my 2 half boxes today and they said they hadn't ordered them... thats like 4 times in the past 5 weeks. Its frustrating because I was looking forward to them.

Well, another 4 boxes of skunks. This has been the worst week for halves since I started. A total of $6500.00 worth of halves and a whopping (2) 40%ers. Add in the $40.00 fees for the boxes and it was a losing week for halves. Dimes were decent though.

On the bright side, I did pull a lot of clad proofs this week.

    about 50 high-grade keepers

    $1900 in BWR halves; 1 '57-D, nothing else. :(

Two boxes of dimes, both were pretty much 75% 2011's... Still yielded 5 silvers. Wonder what they'd be like without all that new crap in there...

Merc - one of the boxes of dimes I searched yesterday was 95% 2011's. I found 1 Silver. I was actually shocked beyond belief!

    Box 1 - 5 x 40% Kennedy
    Box 2 - Skunk

    I'll take it.

I think dumps... All those 2011's I was dumping are coming back through. The timing, about 2 months since, makes sense.

Picked up an AG '96-O Barber Half for melt today, was pretty happy with that. :)

That just doesn't make cents (hahaha bad coin pun) to me. Silver is significantly heavier than copper. If the two coins weight the same, then the 80% silver variety has to have a smaller mass. It's the only way that could possibly work. Plus the density would be completely different. If this is the case, you could tell the difference with a specific gravity test, if you could determine the specific gravity of either dime (or something else of the same weight, volume, and density....try googling it). I'm sure there are other ways too. Like I said the two dimes would have to have completely different densities, and there are tools to measure that.

I'd say it'd be more accurate to say that there is no easy or practical way to tell the difference, unless you happen to be a chemistry or physics professor with access to lab equipment.

    1 ATB Gettysburg
So I am very satisfied with my first box of quarters, was hoping for at least 2 silver and 2 foreign and the ATB's was a plus to my collection.
