That is a tricky question - to me the answer is yes, but then again - define unattractive toning? What I consider unattractive others consider attractive and pay big premiums for it. I like the very subtle toning where luster is blazing - not the dark toning or wild colors that seem to hide the luster. It is all a matter of opinion.
Thank you for resurrecting this thread! This was a very good thing to read, as are all of Lehigh's threads!
Very nicely written Lehigh96! :smile Those of you who know me are aware I'm not shy about paying up for the right coin: hya: Both have been sold:
FWIW, I like the 22-P on Island Coins' site. The rest, not so much. http://islandcoins.com/peace/peace_1922ppcgsms64_21669997.htm
I've never read anywhere that owners of BC Morgan's claimed their coins have faded. Could you please post a link where this is mentioned? I don't believe it to be the case.
My thanks, too, for resurrecting this. Fortunately for me, the market is soft because of the economy. The 83-CC which I use for my avatar came nowhere near the premium prices one would have expected to pay a couple of years ago. I had placed my max bid in 4-digits, but when the hammer dropped, I ended up winning it for about 2X. Chris
I hear allot of people talking about the positives of toning but there can be Negatives as well!! Some toning can be ugly and unattractive that would Drive the price down!!
