So like my litte 1922-D Peace ain't as purty as all of y'alls, but how many of y'alls can say you bought yours at face value at the banky likes I did? This was an over the counter purchase for a buck last Monday.
Bill, many toned Peace Dollars in the market, but not many attractively toned Peace Dollars among them....IMO. I think you found a nice on in a key date as well!
My previous post/images were deleted from this thread when I re-organized my photobucket. Here are some of my favorites. 1921: I think it's a strong strike for the year. Still has nice luster left, but not booming: 2 common date 66's: A splash of Color: MS65 A stunning golden toned 1927 MS64 Another MS66 A real Beauty that didn't CAC for some reason. Another nice MS64 One of my favorite designs. Thanks for looking.
Thanks!! I appreciate your feedback. In 2015, I hope to add some this and fill holes. I'm searching for a '28 with great eye appeal. I have not found one I like yet.
Me I was searching for a peace dollar low relief. With great eye appeal. Just wanted something for my type set. Ended up with a 28 figured it'd be a good investment if nothing else. Would someday hope to find a real great 21 but I'm happy with the ms 63 I bought 20 years ago raw for $75 was real surprised when pcgs called it a 63 I thought it an au but wasn't as familiar with the strike issues
I picked this up last spring at a local coin show. Under the lighting of the show, I thought it was an MS62ish...now I'm not so sure. Might be AU. I'm planning on sending it in, but I don't have high hopes. I guess I can consider it a rough first lesson in learning how to grade high relief peace dollars. Apologies for the lighting (again)...it really brings out every little polish mark, scratch and ding.
Here's another VAM I found. It's a '26-S VAM 4, extra berry variety. Gotta love all the die-breaks, cracks and other oddities in the Peace Dollar series. Keeps it interesting.
