Not sure if you'll see this but there is A Guidebook of Peace Dollars by Roger W. Burdette. It's filled with history, pictures, tips on grading, varieties, etc. and I highly recommend it.
The peace dollar is one of my favorite coins if not my very favorite. This one belongs to my grandmother as 1928 was her birth year. I will be inheriting this coin along with many others, hopefully many years from now.

1921 Peace MS65 PCGS This one arrived in the mail a couple of days ago ... Enjoy! Best Regards, George
Well, I have some good news. The collection is now officially mine, and my grandma is still alive. I did inherit the collection, but now I won't identify it becoming mine with death. I've already started putting some of the collection into 3 ring binders. There are Morgan dollars, a Stone Mountain half, Walking Liberty halves, Standing Liberty and Barber quarters, and many others. I'm happy.
I share your sentiments on the inspiration. Beautiful Peace dollar! It remains one of my favorite series. Thanks for presenting it. -L
